Will Levis injury update: Brian Callahan gives latest on Titans QB injury, future as starter

Will Levis injury update: Brian Callahan gives latest on Titans QB injury, future as starter

Tennessee Titans (1-3) head coach Brian Callahan said following Monday’s 31-12 Week 4 road victory over the Miami Dolphins (1-3) that Will Levis is “100%” the starting quarterback when healthy.

Levis exited the first quarter of the game after suffering an injury to his throwing shoulder. Mason Rudolph replaced him under center and finished out the remainder of the game. Levis will undergo an MRI Monday for what is believed to be an AC joint injury. Callahan said the decision to roll with Rudolph came down to not wanting to risk further injury to Levis.

“It was not a decision based on anything other than his health and protecting him, particularly with the bye week and a shoulder that didn’t feel great,” Callahan said, via Turron Davenport of ESPN. “I didn’t want to put him back out there, and I knew I was going to run the ball quite a bit.”

He added: “He’s our starter when he’s healthy and we’re ready to roll with him.”

Will Levis remains QB1, per Brian Callahan

Levis sustained the injury attempting to dive for the first down on a quarterback keeper. He came down hard on his right shoulder and looked to be in significant pain. Levis, the 2023 second round pick out of Kentucky, completed 3-of-4 passes for 25 yards before exiting the game. The lone incompletion was an interception, now tied with the Indianapolis Colts’ Anthony Richardson for the most (6) in the NFL.

Rudolph finished 9-of-17 for 85 yards, Tennessee relying on its ground game throughout the night. The Titans rushed for 142 yards as a team with Tony Pollard leading the way with 88 of his own. Tennessee posted at least 30 points on the scoreboard for the first time in 1,002 days.

The Titans are on a bye in Week 5, giving Levis time to get healthy for the Week 6 showdown with the Indianapolis Colts (2-2).
