Where Alabama is ranked in the polls entering Week 5
After a 3-0 start to Kalen DeBoer‘s first season in Tuscaloosa, Alabama was idle on Saturday for its first bye week of the season, with a monster matchup against Georgia on the horizon.
After a Week 4 where there weren’t many upsets, the polls didn’t reflect much change towards the top. Alabama remained at No. 4 in the Coaches Poll, while Georgia remained at No. 1. The AP Poll will be released later this afternoon, but the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs were ranked No. 4 and No. 2, respectively, in the AP last week.
Alabama is the third-highest ranked SEC team, following No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Texas. Other ranked SEC teams include No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 11 Missouri, No. 13 LSU, No. 18 Oklahoma, and No. 24 Texas A&M.
Alabama’s matchup against Georgia this week, set for a 6:30 p.m. kick on ABC, will be the first of likely many ranked matchups for the Crimson Tide this season. Every matchup between Alabama and Georgia since 2017 has featured both teams ranked in the top-8, with most matchups coming in either the SEC championship or national championship. It’s the first regular season matchup between Alabama and Georgia since 2020, a game where Alabama was ranked No. 2, and Georgia was No. 3.
