What Sherrone Moore said postgame

Michigan made the switch at quarterback, with junior Alex Orji being benched in favor of graduate Jack Tuttle. Tuttle led three-straight scoring drives but the offense didn’t score after its first possession of the third quarter.

“I think we’ll see when we watch the film,” Moore said of how he’ll handle Michigan’s quarterback situation. “But I feel good about the way he played. I feel good about what he did, so right now if we had to play tomorrow, I would say Tuttle would be the starting quarterback … for us to be successful with him and to be successful with [senior running back] Donovan [Edwards], [graduate running back] Kalel [Mullings] the rest of the guys. I feel he gives us a great chance to win. We’ll just clean up the turnovers and go from there.”

There were a lot of momentum swings late in the game, but Michigan couldn’t get it back after its first turnover, a lost fumble by Tuttle.

“I don’t think there’s one thing,” Moore said of why. “That’s football. Momentum swings back and forth. I think big plays and things that happen help them. They tie the game up and then obviously they got 10 points off a short field and turnovers. I think our defense did a great job adjusting in the second half. It was hard for them to drive the ball down the field. It took some time in the second half.

“In the fourth quarter, those two turnovers were huge. We got 10 points off them. We’ve got to do a better job taking care of the football in all aspects. Jack’s going to beat himself up about that, but we can’t let him do that. We’ve got to uplift him and as a team, take care of him.”
