Vol Club Confidential: Miles Kitselman

Vol Club Confidential: Miles Kitselman

One of the real surprises through three games has been the play of tight end Miles Kitselman. The Alabama transfer joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to discuss his transition to Rocky Top.

“Just getting on the field was the first thing on my mind,” Kitselman said. “Coming from Alabama and not getting to play a whole lot, my whole objective with the portal was just to get somewhere I can get on the field. And after that I could show people what I could do. My expectations coming in were to show the coaches I’m more than just a big guy that can block. I’m someone who can go out in space. I’m smart and I can pick up on things. My expectations were to impress coaches and earn the respect of my teammates.”

Tennessee added Notre Dame transfer Holden Staes back in December and had a lot of hope for redshirt freshman Ethan Davis. Many people thought Kitselman was just added depth and he knew that. He took that fuel like he has his entire career.

“I was a zero star coming out of high school,” Kitselman said. “Didn’t have really any offers so coming in here was kind of the same deal. It’s not against anybody but he is 6-foot-5 and a half and 255, he is just going to be a bigger guy who is some depth for us. Be a third and short guy. I think that’s what the expectations were. I didn’t really play a lot at Alabama so when you don’t have film it’s hard to have high hopes. It’s just kind of taking a shot on a kid. So I feel like what people expected was be depth and good at blocking.”
