Vanderbilt loses to Georgia State in wild finish, nets bonus for opposing coach

Georgia State pulled off an upset against Vanderbilt on Saturday in last-second fashion. Facing third-and-5 from the 25-yard line, quarterback Christian Veilleux heaved up a pass near the end zone.

The victory improved Georgia State to 2-1 on the young season and also notched a $10,000 bonus for first-year coach Dell McGee. According to Steve Berkowitz of USA Today, that is the amount that he earns for every win against a Power 4 opponent.

The Panthers already dropped a game to Georgia Tech earlier this year, so this was the last opportunity this season for McGee to earn the bonus. A former Georgia Bulldogs assistant, this is his first season as a head coach at the college level.
