USC 5-star QB commit Julian Lewis not visiting Indiana this weekend

USC 5-star QB commit Julian Lewis not visiting Indiana this weekend

Indiana is on its way to a 7-0 start as its currently pummeling Nebraska on Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Curt Cignetti and his staff will hope that correlates to some momentum on the recruiting trail. The Hoosiers’ 2025 class currently ranks just No. 55 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Carrollton (Ga.) five-star quarterback and USC commit Julian Lewis is the big fish that IU remains after. Lewis was expected in Bloomington on Saturday but did not make the trip.

On3’s Steve Wiltfong has previously reported that a visit for the Michigan game on Nov. 9 has been mentioned in the past. That date will be one to watch for the Hoosiers moving forward.

“IU is a good town, good area,” Lewis said back in the summer at the On3 Elite Series. “Would be a good place to be a freshman in and some place I’d be comfortable in.”

Lewis has continued to keep Indiana warm, thanks to his long-standing relationship with Hoosiers QBs coach Tino Sunseri. No college assistant has known the Lewis family longer than Sunseri, who has continued to recruit the five-star heavily into the fall.

“There is no coach in college football that has a better relationship with Lewis than Sunseri,” Wiltfong wrote earlier this week.

Indiana not letting up in pursuit of Julian Lewis

Sunseri recently went to Carrollton to see Lewis play — the senior QB has led his team to a 9-0 record so far. Getting Lewis back to Bloomington for a third visit with the new staff remains a priority for Sunseri and the Hoosiers.

Indiana, along with Colorado, look to be the final programs in contention to flip Lewis away from USC. Wiltfong reported last week that the Trojans remain confident they’ll sign the 6-foot signal-caller, but both IU and the Buffaloes continue to push. Lewis visited USC last week and is expected to return to Colorado this season, too.

Indiana’s 2025 recruiting class features 20 commitments, all of whom are three-stars, as of Oct. 19. If Lewis were to flip to the Hoosiers, Cignetti and Co. could find themselves with the momentum they’ve been chasing on the trail all fall.

Following the latest updates from other recruiting services, Lewis is now the No. 32 overall prospect and No. 6 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Georgia.
