Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) right tackle Trent Brown was carted off the field in Monday’s Week 3 home tilt against the Washington Commanders (1-1) after suffering a right knee injury in the second quarter.

Brown’s knee appeared to give out as he was blocking Commanders defensive end Dorance Armstrong. Brown immediately went into the X-ray room to receive further examination.

Amarius Mims, the 2024 first round pick out of Georgia, has replaced Brown on Cincinnati’s offensive line. Mims was the first Bengal to run over to help lift Brown onto the cart. He is making his NFL debut after missing the first two games with a pectoral injury he sustained during training camp.

Amarius Mims replaces Trent Brown at RT in Week 3

“I was called to play football, so that’s what I’m going to do,” Mims said last month. “Preseason or regular season. I’m going to keep enjoying it. If I’m blessed to get more reps from coach, then I’m going to take all the reps that I can get.”

Brown, 31, is in his first season with the Bengals, signing a one-year deal back in March. The 10-year veteran has started 96 games over the course of his career. He put together one of his finest seasons in 2023 with the New England Patriots (1-2). Brown allowed just three sacks in 346 pass blocking snaps last season. Through two weeks this season, he posted a 64.7 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus.
