Top in-state prospect Libby Miller commits to South Carolina softball

Top in-state prospect Libby Miller commits to South Carolina softball

The South Carolina softball staff lit up on social media Monday as they celebrated the addition of one of the state’s top prospects to the Gamecocks’ commit list.

While NCAA rule prohibits coaches from publicly mentioning prospects by name, the Carolina staff was clearly pumped about the verbal commitment of Fort Mill (S.C.) Indian Land class of 2026 RHP Libby Miller.

For Miller, who was in Columbia over the weekend for the LSU football game, the chance to play in the capital city at the next level was a dream come true.

“I was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina and as a little girl, it was always my dream to be able to be a Gamecock!” Miller told GamecockCentral. “I absolutely love everything about my hometown as a little girl, I would go to almost all the games and fantasize about me being on that field.”

In 2019, Miller and her family relocated to Fort Mill where she has been a standout pitcher at the high school level and on the travel ball circuit.

Miller pitched to a 1.783 ERA with 48 strikeouts as a sophomore. She followed that up by leading her team with 143 strikeouts and 16 wins in the circle this past season.

Miller finished the summer ball season with a 2.371 ERA and 1.198 WHIP in 82.2 innings pitched.

She’ll have two more seasons at the high school level before then living out her dream with the Gamecocks.

“I felt like a part of my heart was in still in Columbia,” Miller continued. “But I knew what my future held for me athletics wise so I started going to college camps and fell in love with the current coaching staff when they were at a different school. With their recent move to USC, a part of my heart lit up, I knew I’d have the chance to play for my hometown and the coaching staff I love. So when they called, I knew I was all in. I had found my home again!”
