Carson Beck didn’t have his best game against Alabama, but former Heisman quarterback Tim Tebow left impressed with the Georgia signal-caller.

During an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show on Friday afternoon, Tebow elaborated on why he was satisfied with Beck’s performance in the Bulldogs’ almost-comeback against the Crimson Tide, even if the potential first rounder tossed three picks in a loss.

“He didn’t flinch, and he did not play his best whatsoever,” Tebow explained, regarding Beck’s play. “The first pick was not on him. The second pick was on him, he threw it to the DB’s face. The third pick, that’s just him trying to make a play. You don’t put that on him.

“But he didn’t flinch. He kept fighting. He kept coming back. He also did not get — he got some help from his receivers, his tight ends dropped a lot of passes.”

All in all, Tebow believes the loss to Alabama can be a good thing for Georgia, as it can refocus Kirby Smart’s team, especially when you factor in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

“This Georgia team can get so much better,” Tebow added. “I almost think there’s a little bit of Kirby that’s like, ‘We had that comeback, and we’re not even close to what we can be.’ There’s got to be a piece of Kirby — obviously, you don’t want to lose. I mean, they still have a lot of big games in front of them, but knowing that this could build an edge for the team, knowing that this could be something they rally around, that he can coach on every single day. We know he loves that, and there’s no doubt that he’s going to use that to be able to fire up this team to gain that edge.

“It’s hard when you dominate the last three regular seasons. It’s hard when you’ve only lost to Alabama. It’s hard to keep that edge. I think this gives this team a little bit of an edge, and I think Kirby’s going to kind of use that. You look at on the road against Texas, that’s gonna be a big one. At Ole Miss, that’s gonna be a big one. Tennessee, that’s going to be a big one. Georgia doesn’t have the easiest schedule going forward, but I think Kirby’s going to be able to use this loss to be able to gain some momentum.”

Carson Beck will have to play a cleaner game, but Georgia will remain one of the top teams in the country moving forward. Time will tell how the Bulldogs respond, but count Kirby Smart’s team out at your own risk — Tim Tebow certainly isn’t.
