THEN AND NOW: The cast of ‘Lost,’ 20 years on from the show’s premiere
The main cast of “Lost.”

  • “Lost” premiered its first episode 20 years ago on September 22, 2004. It ran for six seasons.
  • The show followed the lives of passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 who crashed on a mysterious island.
  • The series turned Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia, and more into television stars.

It’s been 20 years since the first episode of “Lost” aired, changing television forever.

Over 18 million viewers tuned in to the premiere of the ABC drama, which was created by Jeffrey Lieber, J. J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof.

The show chronicled the lives of passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 who wound up stranded on a mysterious island. As they tried to go back home — and then get back to the island — across the show’s six seasons, it became one of the network’s top-rated shows.

To this day fans love rewatching the award-winning drama and discussing its unexpected plot lines, stirring mythology, and nail-biting cliffhangers — and of course, its polarizing season finale.

As the iconic series reaches a new milestone amid renewed interest among a new generation of television watchers (all seasons are currently streaming on Netflix and Hulu), Business Insider has taken a look at where its stars are today.
