The Film Room: Deep dive on Hank Brown, the offensive line, the offensive and defensive game plans

The Film Room: Deep dive on Hank Brown, the offensive line, the offensive and defensive game plans

In the third episode of “The Film Room,” Cole Pinkston navigates through 15 plays from Auburn’s bounce back win over New Mexico. The idea this week: go into detail on Hank Brown’s throws and decisions, talk through the offensive line and running back play, talk briefly about the defense, and show the gameplan concept from the game.

In the world of Auburn media and content, this film study should be something unique. The goal is to create a dialogue based on football IQ learned from spending time in the coaching world–how an opposing coach may look at Auburn’s game film.

Watch, enjoy, ask questions, and make suggestions for future editions! Every opinion is welcome.

Takeaways this week

— Rivaldo Fairweather played better than we realized after going back through. He played with good effort and did good things as a blocker as well as a receiver.

— Blocking on the perimeter was excellent in this game

— Hank Brown did some advanced things in his first start. He let go of the ball on time and never stared down any certain read from what we could tell. He made decisions that benefitted the offense time and time again.

— We didn’t show his bad throws as they were pretty much cut-and-dry–just off target. We showed good throws and plays that were attempted again to give Brown redemption on the bad throws.

— The game plan was more efficient this week by leaning on the ground game. We think this helped and played a factor in Brown having a comfortable game.

— There is much more to discuss. Take a look and let us know what you think.
