Last week the University of Texas ascended to its highest ranking since 2009. This week, it ascended one more place to No. 1. The Longhorns earned 35 first place votes. The move followed the Longhorns’ thrashing of UTSA by the score of 56-7.

That score was only part of Texas’ move. No. 1 Georgia needed all 60 minutes to defeat Kentucky on the road by the score of 13-12. Georgia didn’t lead until it scored the lone touchdown in the game in the fourth quarter.

This should serve Texas and Texas fans alike a reminder to not take any game lightly in the SEC and to not get too comfortable at the top of the poll.
