Texas EDGE commit Lance Jackson is new 5-star in updated 2025 On300

With the summer in the rearview mirror and football season well underway, On3 has updated its recruiting rankings for the 2025 class. Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove EDGE and Texas commit Lance Jackson is the No. 13 overall prospect and a new five-star in the 2025 On300.

The latest edition of On3’s 2025 rankings features 18 five-star prospects, up three from the previous update in July. Of those 18 five-stars, 15 are committed to college programs. Evaluations will continue as the high school season continues.

The 6-foot-5.25, 270-pound Jackson pledged to the Longhorns on Jan. 21 and has continued to emerge as one of the top recruits in the Lone Star State. The standout defensive prospect is an outlier for On3.

“I just know they will get me to my full potential,” Jackson told On3 upon making his decision public. “I love the way coach (Pete Kwiatkowski) and coach (Steve) Sarkisian coach. Also, I think PK is just a good dude. When my brother was getting recruited by him when he was at Washington it was one of his favorite recruiters as well. I love the town of Austin and just know it’s where I want to be.”

Jackson is one of eight On3 top-100 recruits committed to Texas this cycle. The Longhorns currently own the No. 5 class in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

“Lance Jackson is one of the premier “first off the bus” prospects in the 2025 cycle. He has excellent weight distribution throughout his frame and looks to be a lean 270 as a high school senior. Primarily, he lines up as a defensive end and tight end for his high school. He’s an effective edge setter with his size and strength, shows good initial quickness, and has length that shows up in implementing a straight arm move. He transfers his physicality as a tight end over to the defensive side as well, walking offensive tackles back to the quarterback.
