Texas A&M pitcher Shane Sdao to miss 2025 season after elbow surgery
According to Ryan Brauninger of TexAgs, Texas A&M left-handed pitcher Shane Sdao will be out for the entire 2025 season due to elbow surgery. Sdao suffered the injury during the Aggies’ Super Regional matchup against Oregon earlier in the year. After attempting to go through the recovery process, everyone involved decided surgery was required.
“News: Texas A&M left handed pitcher Shane Sdao will miss the 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair a ligament in his elbow that was injured in last year’s Super Regional against Oregon,” Brauninger said via X. “He attempted to rehab it but pain and discomfort continued so the repair was needed.”
Sdao was hoping to be a huge member of Texas A&M’s starting rotation this year under new head coach Michael Earley. Following the departure of Jim Schlossnagle, Sdao actually entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, as did many Aggies from last season’s College World Series runner-up squad. But Sdao decided to stay in College Station when Earley was tasked with taking over the program.
The 2025 season was going to be Sdao’s third in college baseball, making him a draft-eligible player next summer. His sophomore campaign was a good one, throwing 48.2 innings, resulting in 16 earned runs allowed, an ERA of 2.96, and opponents having a batting average of .235.
