Tennessee Football starts Oklahoma week as a touchdown favorite on the road

Tennessee Football starts Oklahoma week as a touchdown favorite on the road

Josh Heupel’s Tennessee Football team will start Oklahoma week as a 7.5-point road favorite for Saturday night’s game in Norman, according to updated odds from FanDuel.

The line has changed drastically over the last few days and even more so since early lines were released back in the spring.

Tennessee on Thursday was listed by FanDuel as a 2.5-point road favorite with the total set at 61.5.

In early lines released by DraftKings back in May, the Vols were listed as a 5.0-point underdog at Oklahoma.

ESPN’s College GameDay headed to Tennessee-Oklahoma

Saturday night’s game is scheduled for a 7:30 Eastern Time start on ABC at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. ESPN’s College GameDay will broadcast live from Norman Saturday morning.

Oklahoma led Tulane 21-0 on Saturday afternoon in Norman, only for the Green Wave to get back within 24-19 early in the fourth quarter. That’s as close as it would get in a 34-19 win, though.

Last week Oklahoma scored just two points in the second half in a 16-12 win over Houston at home. The Sooners opened the season with a 51-3 win over Temple at home on August 30.

Saturday’s game is a matchup of two of the top quarterbacks from the 2023 recruiting class.

Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava was a five-star and ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the class, just ahead of Oklahoma sophomore and former five-star Jackson Arnold, who was the No. 6 overall player and the No. 3 quarterback in the On3 ratings.

Jackson Arnold leads Oklahoma with 484 passing yards, 159 rushing yards

Arnold this season is 54-86 (.628) for 484 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s been sacked nine times. Arnold also leads Oklahoma in rushing with 159 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 36 attempts.

Deion Burks, a Purdue transfer, leads the team in receiving with 22 catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns, all of which came in the 52-3 win over Temple to open the season.

Tennessee was a 49.5-point favorite against Kent State Saturday night and covered with ease in the 71-0 win. The Vols led 65-0 at halftime and set program scoring records for points in a quarter, points in a half and points in a game at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee was a 38.5-point favorite against Chattanooga, winning 69-3 on August 31, and was  a 9.0-point favorite against NC State in the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, where the Vols drubbed the Wolfpack 51-10.
