State commit Stephen Miller talks recent Southern Cal offer

2025 Mississippi State commitment Stephen Miller entered his senior season wanting to display his versatility. The On3 three-star defensive back prospect has done just that in the first half of his season at Greene County (Ga.) High School.

Miller has also aided his team’s success, which includes a 3-1 start heading into region play this weekend. Miller is rated as the nation’s No. 38 safety and the state’s No. 58 prospect by On3 rankings.

“The season has started good and all I wanted was to be all over the field,” Miller remarked. “I am getting the ball in different ways and our season is going great. We lost a couple of weeks ago but other than that, we just had to learn from it and we bounced back.”

Miller has been able to impact all three phases of the game, as well. Along with his duties on offense and defense, Miller has also returned kicks and served as the team’s starting punter.

“I’ve been on the offensive side more because I’m on kick return and punt return, too,” added the 6-foot-1.5 and 180-pound Miller. “Like I said, all I ever wanted was to play all over the field so I can showcase my talents in other areas. I think I’ve done that on offense this year and I am still doing well on defense.”

Holding several other Power 4 offers, Miller committed to Mississippi State back in June when he officially visited the Bulldogs’ program. He noted of his recent conversations with the staff, as well.

“It’s going good with Mississippi State,” noted Miller. “We talk about day-to-day things and it’s been good. They’ve been trying to get me there for a game and I was trying to get there for the Florida game but I couldn’t make it.”

At the next level, Miller has also had conversations about his position. Playing cornerback for the Bulldogs has been mentioned often but Miller also believes he could play other positions if needed.

“The coaches still talk about corner,” Miller explained. “I’ve had some heavy thoughts on that right now. I was wanting to go to college playing corner. But now I could see myself going to college playing free safety or receiver. But it doesn’t matter to me and I know I can play corner.”

With a fast start to his senior season, other schools have also taken notice of Miller lately. He recently added an offer from Southern Cal and has several other schools starting to express more interest.

“That was a surprise offer and a blessing from Southern Cal,” mentioned Miller, who is officially visiting Southern Cal next weekend. “That was a school I really liked when I was a kid. I’m also hearing from Memphis, N.C. State and a few others. There’s been some other schools like that were coming around like Southern Cal and then they offered. So things are picking up again.”
