On Saturday, Clemson put on a show in its 59-35 triumph over NC State. In the win, quarterback Cade Klubnik completed 16-of-his-24 pass attempts for 209 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception.

Klubnik’s arm wasn’t his only threat. On a mere four carries, he also amassed 70 rushing yards and a score. Not to be outdone, running back Phil Mafah led the ground game for the Tigers, amassing a team-high 104 rushing yards and a touchdown.

It was the most points scored in an ACC game since Clemson’s 62-17 victory over Virginia in the league championship game five years ago. Moreover, it was Clemson’s 800th program win, becoming the first ACC program to reach the mark.

Stanford will look to make its own headlines on Saturday against Clemson. This weekend, the Cardinal picked up steam with a narrow 26-24 win over Syracuse. In the victory, Stanford’s defense was stout, holding Syracuse’s leading rusher, LeQuint Allen, to 25 yards on eight carries.

Moreover, the Cardinal defense picked off Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord twice. The win carried more weight than a simple strike in the win column for Stanford. It was the program’s first conference matchup in the ACC.

Stanford quarterback Ashton Daniels couldn’t be prouder of his team’s performance.

“This was something special for us, obviously, our first ACC game,” said Daniels. “That’s history for us, especially, and I’m not going to lie, we’ve been struggling the last two seasons. This was such a big win for us guys couldn’t control their emotions. The amount of trust and respect I have for my connection with Elic [Ayomanor] … I knew there was no one else I could go to.”

Now, Stanford will look to further stake its claim in the ACC with a win over the Tigers. Of course, Clemson will be ready for the challenge.
