Six Ohio State players see ratings adjustment in EA College Football 25

COLUMBUS — Ohio State develops some of the best talent in the country and that’s no joke. ‘Developed Here’ is one of the Buckeyes’ program mantras and it’s showing on the field every day — especially on Saturdays.

The Buckeyes (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) develop that talent on the field and it’s reflected in EA College Football 25. The highly-anticipated college football video game does consistent live updates on player rankings since real players are actually in the game.

Lettermen Row looks at six Ohio State players who saw their overall rating change.

OT Josh Simmons

Ohio State’s starting left tackle Josh Simmons was one of the initial opt-outs from the game, but he recently changed his tune. The California native saw his overall rating increase from 83 to 85. We expect that only to increase as Simmons and the Buckeyes play against better talent as the season goes on.

CB Lorenzo Styles Jr

Ohio State legacy and Notre Dame transfer Lorenzo Styles Jr. has carved out a nice role for himself on special teams. The EA evaluators have taken notice. Styles’ overall rating jumped three notches and he’s now a 79 overall in the game.

Styles, aside from his various special teams roles, plays nickel for Ohio State.

CB Calvin Simpson-Hunt

One of the highest-ranked prospects in the 2023 cycle has taken a slight ratings dip in the recent updates. Sophomore cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt dropped one spot to a 79 overall rating. The Waxahachie, Texas, native is active on special teams and has registered a few different penalties over four games.

P Joe McGuire

Ohio State has utilized several Australian punters over the last few decades. Joe McGuire is no different. The Buckeyes’ starting punter is now a 76 overall, moving up five spots from his former position. McGuire has a punt average of 42.09 yards.

SAF Jaylen McClain

One of the best prospects out of New Jersey in the 2024 cycle found his home at Ohio State. Safety Jaylen McClain continues to find ways onto the field, mainly in a special teams role, but the EA evaluators have taken not.

McClain’s rating bumped up five spots and he’s now a 76 overall.

SAF Keenan Nelson Jr

South Carolina transfer Keenan Nelson hasn’t found himself on the field this fall for the Buckeyes so far. The late addition to the Ohio State roster saw his overall rating drop to a 76 from a 77.
