Shane Beamer provides injury updates on LaNorris Sellers, Rocket Sanders and Jared Brown

Shane Beamer provides injury updates on LaNorris Sellers, Rocket Sanders and Jared Brown

Since South Carolina is playing an SEC game this week, head coach Shane Beamer technically didn’t have to say anything about the status of any injured players. That’s what Wednesday’s conference injury report will be for.

But either way, when Beamer met with the media on Tuesday, he provided minor updates on some of the players that were banged up before or after the Akron game. He spoke briefly about the three main names on offense: LaNorris Sellers, Rocket Sanders and Jared Brown.

“He was good today. He did everything in practice, for sure,” Beamer said of Sellers, who didn’t play in the Akron game.

Back in Week 3, Sellers missed majority of the second half against LSU with an ankle sprain injury. Rather than have him suit up for the following game before the bye week, Beamer opted to let Sellers rest and start backup Robby Ashford at quarterback instead.

So far this season, Sellers is 29-of-53 passing for 393 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. When the weekly depth chart released on Monday, he was listed at the top spot at quarterback. This was the same case leading up to the Akron game and Sellers didn’t end up playing that week.

Otherwise, Beamer felt the team is in “good shape” from a health standpoint. He was later asked about Sanders and how he’s been coming along since exiting the Akron game in the first quarter with an ankle injury.

“LaNorris and Rocket were both out there. They both looked good,” Beamer said. “Were they 100 percent? I wouldn’t say they were 100 percent but they both told me they felt great. And they look good and they’ll both be able to do even more tomorrow I would think as well.”

Beamer mentioned that Brown practiced on Tuesday, as well.

South Carolina (3-1, 1-1 SEC) will face No. 12 Ole Miss (4-1, 0-1 SEC) on Saturday afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN.
