RFK Racing shows off damage to Brad Keselowski’s car after wreck with William Byron: ‘Willy B was here’

RFK Racing shows off damage to Brad Keselowski’s car after wreck with William Byron: ‘Willy B was here’

Yesterday at Watkins Glen, William Byron almost drove through Brad Keselowski’s car, and RFK Racing has the proof. These Next Gen cars get a lot of heat, but NASCAR has built them to withstand major impacts.

Late in the race, William Byron got into Brad Keselowski after the No. 6 took contact from Joey Logano. Byron’s right front wheel rode up the left rear of Keselowski’s car. The 24 looked like it was going to clear the wall.

Thankfully, the cars stopped. Also, thankfully, Byron’s tire rested on the window net and the B-post.

RFK Racing showed off the damage today for everyone to see.

Honestly, it’s almost a miracle that this wasn’t worse than it ended up being.

For not being a great road course racer in the Next Gen era, Brad Keselowski put up a fight. He was having a solid day for the most part. However, too many issues on pit road and on the track sank his chances of having a truly great finish.

RFK Racing wasn’t too worried about it, though. It stunk for the team co-owner and driver. However, his teammate ended up taking home the checkered flag.

The NASCAR Playoffs are only two weeks old for the Cup Series. Already we were treated to a spoiler victory and a lot of chaos for playoff drivers.

Chris Buescher gets the win for RFK Racing

When overtime began, there was only one NASCAR Playoff driver in the top-5. It was Chase Briscoe. He would ultimately finish P6, meaning this was the first playoff race since the 2004 Chase system was implemented that a playoff driver failed to finish in the top-5.

While it was a poor day for many playoff drivers, Chris Buescher was flying. He has shown a real knack for road course racing over the last few years with many top-10s. This was his first win on a road course and it couldn’t come at a better time.

Buescher missed the playoffs, but he gets this win now. It came after an overtime duel with Shane van Gisbergen in which both drivers used the bumper to make moves. Buescher had the last laugh as SVG missed Turn 7 and couldn’t make a second bump and run.

RFK Racing has two winning drivers for the first time in the Next Gen era. Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher both have checkered flags on the season. It will be good momentum heading into 2025.
