Report: Stanford to start Justin Lamson at quarterback vs. Virginia Tech
Stanford will start Justin Lamson at quarterback against Virginia Tech, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
“Sources: Stanford will start Justin Lamson today at quarterback against Virginia Tech,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “Starting QB Ashton Daniels is expected to be available.”
In four games this year, Lamson is five-of-nine passing for 56 yards and two touchdowns. He’s also run 18 times for five yards and two scores.
Daniels, who’s in his third season at Stanford, was 68-of-115 passing for five touchdowns, six interceptions and a 59.1% completion percentage.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Lamson was a three-star recruit out of El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge when he committed to Syracuse, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 77 overall prospect in the state, the No. 72 quarterback in the class and the No. 986 overall prospect in the class.
Stanford is currently 2-2 following a 40-14 loss to Clemson. Lamson was four-of-eight passing for 54 yards and one touchdown in relief during that game.
Virginia Tech looks for a bounce back win after narrowly falling to Miami last Friday night on a controversial Hail Mary play on the final snap.
