Purdue offensive coordinator Graham Harrell let go

Purdue offensive coordinator Graham Harrell let go

Purdue has moved on from offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, the school announced today.

The Boilermakers (1-3 overall; 0-1 Big Ten) have struggled the last three games–all losses–since a season-opening 49-0 win vs. Indiana State. The offense has scored a combined 38 points the last three contests, vs. Notre Dame (7), at Oregon State (21) and vs. Nebraska (10).

Purdue ranks 15th in the Big Ten in total offense (322.0 ypg) and 14th in scoring (21.8 ppg). The passing game has been the biggest issue, ranking 15th (172.3 ypg).

Harrell, 39, is the highest paid Purdue assistant. According to terms of his contract obtained by GoldandBlack.com, the former Texas Tech quarterback has a three-year deal that paid him $900,000 in 2023 and $950,000 this season. He is set to make $1 million in 2025, the final season of his contract.

With Harrell gone, it’s not known who will call plays for Purdue the rest of the season.

Harrell was hired by Ryan Walters after serving as offensive coordinator at West Virginia in 2022. Prior to that, Harrell was OC at USC from 2019-21 and North Texas from 2016-18.

Purdue plays at Wisconsin on Saturday.
