COLUMBUS — No. 3 Ohio State returned to Ohio Stadium on Saturday and while it may not have been the dominating performance some expected, it was still dominant nonetheless.

The Buckeyes throttled visiting Marshall 49-14 in their final nonconference game of the 2024 season. Ohio State outscored its nonconference opponents 157-20. Most of the conversation surrounding Ohio State has been about its defense, but today the offense was under the limelight.

Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly called an offense that put up 569 total yards of offense on a pretty even clip. 289 were through the air and 280 were on the ground. The Buckeyes’ two-headed monster running back duo of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins were at it again on Saturday.

Henderson had six carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Judkins had 14 carries for 173 yards and two touchdowns as well. True freshman James Peoples added in a nice stat line of 31 yards on six carries.

The Buckeyes head into conference play starting this week with a road trip to Michigan State. Saturday’s game against the Thundering Herd will be the last time recruits are in the Horseshoe in September. And it was a sneaky good guest list.

A nice crop of commits were present including Tavien St. Clair, Jake Cook, Nate Roberts, Jarquez Carter and Cody Haddad.

Behind them were a few 2026 prospects who are intriguing. Four-star St. Louis (Mo) DeSmet defensive lineman Titan Davis made his debut visit to Ohio State. The 6-foot-5, 238-pound Davis is the No. 62 overall prospect and the No. 5 defensive lineman according to On3. He was a visitor Lettermen Row did not have on our guest list, but a welcomed one nonetheless.

Perhaps the biggest visitor — that we knew of ahead of time — was four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville linebacker Cincere Johnson. The No. 111 overall prospect and No. 8 linebacker per the On3 Industry Rankings finally earned his Ohio State offer on Saturday. It was something Johnson had spent years chasing toward. The Buckeyes have quickly emerged as the front-runner in his recruitment.

And a rare uncommitted 2025 prospect was on campus on Saturday. Four-star Youngstown (Ohio) Warren G. Harding athlete Chaz Coleman is every bit of 6-foot-5. He’s also every bit of 205 pounds. Most programs are recruiting Coleman as a tight end, but the Buckeyes like him as an EDGE.

Several other prospects returned to campus for the game and Lettermen Row has highlights in a photo gallery.
