Penn State vs. UCLA odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch
The Penn State Nittany Lions are set to welcome the UCLA Bruins to Happy Valley for a Big Ten contest. It’s set to be the first time these two teams play as conference opponents and their first time playing since 1968.
Coming off a hard-fought win over Illinois, Penn State is hoping to keep its unbeaten season going as the Nittany Lions are hoping to compete for the Big Ten and a bid to the College Football Playoff this season. Meanwhile, UCLA is looking for its first win in the Big Ten and to snap a three-game losing streak.
With that, according to FanDuel, Penn State is entering the game as a 28.5-point favorite to win. The over/under, meanwhile, is set at 46.5 points.
For UCLA, this is going to be the Bruins’ first road test in Big Ten play. It comes amid a stretch of games for the Bruins against some of the conference’s top-ranked teams. So, it’ll be interesting to see how UCLA responds to adversity.

Penn State is now 4-0 after beating a previously unbeaten Illinois team 21-7. That game saw the Nittany Lions control the game on the ground and with the benefit of an excellent defensive effort. With that, Penn State started their conference slate on the right foot.
Still, head coach James Franklin sees room to grow for Penn State this season.
“We’re getting better as an entire offense. Obviously Drew [Allar’s] doing some great things. We’ve gotta finish in the red zone. We’ve gotta do that on offense. Defense, we’ve gotta clean up the penalties. It’s making things harder than it needs to be,” Franklin said. “But this is a really good team, I’ve got a ton of respect for Illinois and Bret Bielema, good win for us.”
On the other side, UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster is looking for answers. After dropping the team’s first two conference games, the Bruins can’t afford to go to 0-3 in conference play. At that point, UCLA would be effectively out of conference championship contention and their odds of making a bowl game would be in serious jeopardy.
Foster inherited a challenging situation, with former head coach Chip Kelly leaving late in the off-season coaching carousel. However, this is still not how he had hoped things would start.
Regardless, UCLA comes into the game against Penn State as a major underdog entering a hostile Big Ten environment.
