Pat Narduzzi after West Virginia win: ‘We beat the officials too’

The Pitt Panthers stormed back to beat the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday night, prevailing 38-34 in front of the crowd in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The feelings in the Backyard Brawl are as intense as they’ve ever been, and Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi surely let everyone know about it in his postgame comments.

He was ticked off about the officiating and let the sideline reporter know about it on the field.

The transcribed version of that segment of the interview is below.

The reporter asked him, you told us you challenged your defense and your secondary in this one. How do you think they answered that?

“I think our DBs did a heck of a job, period. Some of the calls we got, late hit out of bounds. Catching balls and they hit them in the face. I’ve never seen anything like it. You know? Wow. We beat West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl and we beat the officials, too in one game,” Narduzzi explained.

How was he feeling emotionally after the big win? “It’s personal. And we’re gonna have a damn good time in the locker room. Hail Pitt!”
