Oregon vs. Michigan State: Injury reports revealed

Oregon vs. Michigan State: Injury reports revealed

Oregon and Michigan State have released their injury reports ahead of their Friday night matchup. This is the second season the Big Ten is requiring teams to release availability reports for each game.

It’s a familiar coaching matchup as Dan Lanning and Jonathan Smith square off. They previously faced each other in the rivalry game formerly known as the “Civil War” over the last two years while Smith was at Oregon State.

Now, they’ll match up as Big Ten coaches with Smith now at Michigan State. The Ducks will be down nine players for the game, though, while Michigan State will be missing six, according to their availability reports.

Oregon brings a perfect 4-0 record after defeating former Pac-12 foe UCLA last week. Michigan State brings a 3-2 record in, but is coming off back-to-back losses – including a 38-7 loss to Ohio State a week ago.

This won’t be Jonathan Smith’s first trip to Autzen Stadium. That came last year when Oregon State fell to Oregon in what turned out to be the last time the two teams played the last game of the season. Returning to a hostile environment, Smith knows what to expect, but he didn’t want to get too caught up in his return to Oregon.

“You get locked in on the game,” Smith said. “It’s not just myself, we’ve got some other guys with connections to the place and all that. And once it’s kicked off, it’s a college football game that you emotionally approach the same.”
