Notre Dame recruits take to social media after Deuce Knight flips to Auburn

Notre Dame recruits take to social media after Deuce Knight flips to Auburn

On Wednesday night, Lucedale (Miss.) George County’s Deuce Knight, the nation’s No. 36 overall player and No. 7 quarterback according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, announced that he flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to Auburn.

And within the next 90 minutes, three Notre Dame commitments in the 2025 class and one in the 2026 cycle took to Twitter to address Fighting Irish fans to show a sign of strength.

While Notre Dame is down a quarterback commitment, they still have one in the high school junior class in Lake Mary (Fla.) High’s Noah Grubbs. Ranked as the No. 121 overall player and No. 10 quarterback in the land per the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, Grubbs sent a message to the country.

“Irish Nation, WE Stand on BUSINESS,” he said.

During his sophomore season in 2023 in which he helped Lake Mary to a 10-2 record in 2023, Grubbs completed 208 passes on 354 attempts for 3,670 yards with 49 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He added four rushing scores as well.

The Orlando Touchdown Club and the Orlando Sentinel named him its 2023 Offensive Player of the Year.

Grubbs set the following Lake Mary school records in 2023: single-game passing touchdowns (8), single-game passing yardage (528), single-season passing touchdowns (49), single-season passing yards (3,677), most passes completed in a single game (31), single-season completions (207) and attempts (356) and is the school’s all-time leader in average yards per game (306.4).

Grubbs played a good bit as a freshman, throwing for 1,593 yards with 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

One of the prospects on Notre Dame’s commitment list that could have been affected by the Knight news is Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic’s Elijah Burress, the No. 581 overall prospect and No. 96 wide receiver nationally per the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, considering that Burress and Knight are close friends.

But with a “#GoIrish” tweet sent out by Burress, it looks like he’s not affected by the news.

According to NJ.com, Burress hauled in 29 passes for 439 yards with 5 touchdowns during his junior season in 2023. He is the son of Super Bowl XLII champion and former Giants and Steelers pass catcher Plaxico Burress. The elder Burress caught 553 passes for 8,499 yards with 64 touchdowns during his NFL career.

A pair of Notre Dame D-line commits in the 2025 class also put out similar tweets. Miami Palmetto’s Davion Dixon, the No. 832 player and No. 81 defensive lineman nationally per the On3 Industry Ranking, tweeted that he’s “All in.”

Chicago Simeon’s Christopher Burgess, who ranks as the No. 110 prospect and No. 15 EDGE in the land, tweeted out the shamrock emoji with a picture of him in an Irish jersey.
