Newsstand: Where Mel Kiper Jr. ranks Notre Dame CB Benjamin Morrison on NFL Draft Big Board
ESPN football analyst Mel Kiper Jr. updated his top 25 prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday. The longtime draft guru has Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison as his No. 20 player.
“Morrison has extremely sound technique in the way he covers opposing receivers,” Kiper said. “He’s really good in press coverage and gets his hands on the ball before it arrives to the receiver. The ball skills are impressive. Morrison had nine interceptions and 17 pass breakups over his first two seasons.”
In addition to Morrison, Kiper has tight end Mitchell Evans as his No. 4 tight end. He did not rank any other Fighting Irish players.
Through the first five games of Morrison’s junior season, the 6-foot, 190-pounder has 16 tackles (12 solo) and 3 pass breakups. Opposing quarterbacks have targeted him 27 times. He has allowed 12 catches for 125 yards in 146 pass coverage snaps.
If Morrison were to hear his name called on Day 1 of the NFL Draft, he would be the first Irish cornerback selected in the first round since Jeff Burris (No. 27 overall) in 1994. Morrison’s father, former Arizona safety Darryl Morrison, was drafted by the now-Washington Commanders in the sixth round the previous year.
