The first weekend of October will feature a full docket of big high school football games across the nation following plenty of postponements and cancellations due to Hurricane Helene last week.

Of the updated top 25 teams in the On3 Massey Ratings, 19 are taking the field this week, with games ranging from Thursday through Saturday.

Below is how the On3 Massey Ratings predict each of the top games in the nation will unfold this weekend:

The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory. According to the model, all 25 of the top 25 teams in Texas rank inside the top 100 nationwide.

Top National High School Football Games – Oct. 3

#5 North Shore (Texas) vs. Kingwood (Texas)
North Shore is back in action on Thursday night after decimating Humble 42-0 last Thursday to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Mustangs have been elite on defense so far, allowing just 16 total points. Kingwood enters at 3-1 and will look to play spoiler on Thursday evening.

Top National High School Football Games – Oct. 4

#1 Mater Dei (Calif.) vs. Santa Margarita Catholic (Calif.)
The top-ranked team in the nation is coming off a bye week and will look to remain undefeated on Friday night. The Monarchs have the No. 1 defense in the nation, per the Massey Ratings, and also already have a trio of nationally-ranked victories. Santa Margarita, entering the week at 3-2, will look to catch No. 1 lacking and deliver what would be an immense upset.

Orange Lutheran (Calif.) vs. #3 St. John Bosco (Calif.)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Bosco 44, Lutheran 14

#4 Atascocita (Texas) vs. #12 Summer Creek (Texas)
The national game of the week once again features Atascocita, which has built one of the nation’s top résumés throughout the first half of the season, defeating the likes of Katy and Austin Westlake. The Eagles get back on the road for the third time but will stay in Humble to take on fellow 4-0 Summer Creek. While the competition has been far from stout, the Bulldogs are still yet to allow a single point this season. Expect that to change on Friday, however.

#11 Mission Viejo (Calif.) vs. Long Beach Poly (Calif.)

Coffee (Ga.) vs. #14 Lee County (Ga.)
Lee County is now the top-ranked team in Georgia following an impressive 12-point win at home over then-top-five Thomas County Central. The Trojans improved to 6-0 with the victory and now have three ranked victories on their tally. They’ll look to make it four on Friday when undefeated Coffee comes to town. The ninth-ranked Trojans have played a much-less daunting schedule than its upcoming opponent, but their defense has looked the part, allowing just 9.3 points per game in its six wins. Lee County’s offense ranks No. 1 in the state, while Coffee’s defense ranks No. 4, per the Massey Ratings.

Westlake (Ga.) vs. #17 Carrollton (Ga.)

Servite (Calif.) vs. #21 J Serra Catholic (Calif.)
Perhaps the game of the week in California features a pair of undefeated programs as Servite heads to San Juan Capistrano to take on J Serra Catholic. The visiting Friars are yet to allow 20 points in a game this season, while the No. 21 Lions have scored 35-plus in all but one game thus far. J Serra is amidst a daunting schedule that now features five consecutive games against top-10 teams in-state.
