The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at North Wilkesboro Speedway has been postponed due to Hurricane Helene recovery efforts. There are only three races left on the Modified Tour schedule this season.

While North Wilkesboro Speedway has been brought back to life, this year has not been great for weather and postponed races. Earlier this year, the CARS Tour races at the track, supporting the NASCAR All-Star Race, were postponed due to rain.

There are many things more important than racing. Of course, North Carolina has been decimated by the flooding from Hurricane Helene. So, all efforts should be focused on assisting those who are in need. Racing can wait.

“The decision was made in cooperation with local authorities to ensure all local emergency resources remain dedicated to clean-up and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene,” a statement from NASCAR said.

Even better, on Tuesday, North Wilkesboro will become a designated collection site for relief donations. Right now, there is no makeup date scheduled for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

– Mops
– Buckets
– Gloves
– Bottled water
– Batteries
– Portable chargers
– Hygiene items
– Diapers & wipes

Of course, North Carolina is NASCAR country. So, the sport is giving back as much as it can. While racing can wait, these people in need cannot.

When the images rolled in of the flooding and destruction, it was clear the effort needed to recover was going to be immense. Multiple people in the NASCAR world are assisting with recovery efforts as we speak.

North Wilkesboro race postponed, Carl Edwards assisting

The day after he was driving the pace car at Kansas Speedway, Carl Edwards is back in North Carolina assisting with recovery efforts. Along with Operation Airdrop, the future NASCAR Hall of Famer is helping deliver supplies to those in need after Hurricane Helene.

Operation Airdrop is pulling together as many planes, pilots, and other aviation. It is a volunteer group that makes no money. So, any funds donated go straight into recovery efforts.

Earlier today, Carl Edwards made an appearance on Queen City News. What Appalachia has been through in North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky is nothing short of tragic. Hopefully, Edwards and Operation Airdrop can help those who need it most.

“Hey, good morning ,” Edwards said on the news broadcast. “So, North Carolina’s done so much for me, the NASCAR community has done so much for me. NASCAR is represented well here. Greg Biffle, Cleetus McFarland, Brad Womble. For me, it’s about bringing these folks, Gideon Rescue Company.”

So, it is all hands on deck in North Carolina. When tragedy strikes, the greater side of humanity shows up to help.
