Multiple Penn State commits outside of On300 move up in latest rankings update

Multiple Penn State commits outside of On300 move up in latest rankings update

Penn State saw a few of its three-star commits make notable moves Monday following On3’s updated 2025 rankings. The Nittany Lions have eight players who hold a four-star rating and rank inside the On300 currently, but further down, there were a handful of notable players who saw their ratings improve.

Aliquippa running back Tiqwai Hayes made one of the biggest moves among that group, climbing 11 spots to No. 29 nationally at the running back position. He was previously ranked No. 40 at his position.

Throughout his high school career, Hayes has been very productive for one of Pennsylvania’s top programs. Just last week, he surpassed 6,000 career rushing yards in a 46-20 win over Avonworth. Hayes rushed for 187 yards on just 13 carries in that game. However, that game also left him at less than 100 percent, which is why he sat out Friday night’s win against Mars.

“We wanted to keep him [Tiqwai Hayes] out tonight,” Aliquippa head coach Vashawn Patrick told The Beaver County Times. “We wanted to be more safe than sorry because we have a long and vigorous season ahead of us. Tiqwai will be ready to play soon.”

But Hayes wasn’t the only player to make a sizable jump at his position, as wide receiver Koby Howard moved up from No. 108 at his position to No. 99. After starting the season 0-2, Chaminade-Madonna got a big win over American Heritage last week before blowing up Edison this past Friday, 56-19. Before the game got out of hand, Howard had two receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown. He’s up to 12 receptions for 127 yards and four touchdowns so far this season. Howard has also carried the ball 11 times for 87 yards.

Defensive lineman Randy Adirika at Miami Central also made a sizable jump, improving from No. 53 at his position to No. 44. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive tackle has totaled 13 tackles, including nine tackles for loss and five sacks, in his first three games.

Finally, DePaul Catholic offensive lineman Michael Troutman saw his rating climb from an 87 overall three-star to an 88. That improvement led the New Jersey native to climb nine spots to No. 51 nationally as an interior offensive lineman.

Penn State’s Class of 2025 remains at No. 16 nationally in On3’s Team Rankings. It’s important to note that our team rankings are based on On3’s Industry Rankings, which combine On3, 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN for a cumulative rating for each player. All of today’s ranking updates were specific to On3.
