Mike Norvell addresses FSU’s plan at QB between Brock Glenn, Luke Kromenhoek
Florida State fell to 1-6 on the season after a 23-16 loss to Duke on the road in Week 8
Redshirt freshman Brock Glenn, who has been the team’s starter since DJ Uiagalelei broke a finger on his throwing hand late in Week 5, made the start again against the Blue Devils. However, head coach Mike Norvell turned toward true freshman Luke Kromenhoek during parts of the second and third quarters before putting Glenn back into the game to finish it.
Norvell revealed whether or not this rotation will continue moving forward in Week 9 and beyond, or if it was just to change up the tempo amid the Seminoles’ struggles.
“We’ll evaluate all things as it goes into this week on on that,” Norvell told reporters on Sunday. “Obviously, like I said, I was pleased with with Brock and how he was able to respond coming back in the game. Obviously, for Luke, he was able to do so. Those guys are going to continue to work, we’re gonna we’re going to continue to push forward and every every single one of us are going to go be better.”
Glenn finished the game completed 9 of 19 passes for 110 yards and two interceptions. He added nine carries for 47 yards on the ground as well. The change was made after three-streaight turnovers, which included a pick-six and fumble on back-to-back offensive possessions. Meanwhile, Kromenhoek wasn’t asked to throw much during his time in the game, completing 3 of 7 passes for 19 yards during the contest.
After the game, Norvell said he was proud of the way Glenn responded after being taken out in favor of Kromenhoek. He thought he handled himself maturely despite the circumstances.
Whether Norvell opts to keep Glenn as the full-time starter, or create some type of rotation for the duo in Uiagalelei’s absence remains to be seen.
Florida State will travel to No. 6 Miami on Saturday for a Week 9 ACC road trip. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN.
