Martin Truex Jr. took an apparent shot at Kyle Larson following Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen.

Truex, who put together another disappointing run in a season full of them, felt like he got run over late in the race and didn’t appreciate it.

“It’s just crazy that all these races always come down to this,” Truex said. “I don’t really understand how guys can call their self the best in the world when they just drive through everyone on restarts at the end of these races. It’s very frustrating but it is what it is these days, so I’m out of here.”

The frustration continues to mount for Truex, who finished 20th at Watkins Glen. He had speed early, winning Stage 1, but faded throughout the race. Already in danger of failing to advance to the Round of 12 coming into Watkins Glen, Truex is now 14 points below the cutline going into Bristol next Saturday. That puts him in perhaps a must-win situation, something he hasn’t done in his final full-time season in the Cup Series.

The numbers on Truex are concerning and unlike anything we’ve seen from him during his time with Joe Gibbs Racing. Not only is he winless through 28 races but he has just one top-10 finish since Nashville in late June and hasn’t tallied a top-five since Kansas in early May. He has finished 20th or worse in 11 of the last 14 races. That includes a current streak of seven consecutive finishes outside the top-20.

We’ll see if he can pull out something special at Bristol, a racetrack he’s yet to win at during his Hall of Fame career. He did, however, finish runner-up to Denny Hamlin in the spring race at Bristol.
