Marshall HC Charles Huff hilariously attempts to lure Ohio State players away with NIL offer

Marshall HC Charles Huff hilariously attempts to lure Ohio State players away with NIL offer

It’s never a bad time to loft a recruiting pitch out there, and there have been some interesting ones over the years. One from Marshall head coach Charles Huff might just take the cake, though.

Or the biscuit, rather.

You have to hear the pitch for yourself to believe it. It starts innocuously enough, as a plea for fans to have some patience, it seems. Then… well, listen for yourself.

“I feel good about the track we’re on, trust me,” Huff said. “I know where we are, but I feel good about the track we’re on. And I feel good about the players we have. Would love to have some of those guys from Ohio State, too. So if they want to transfer on down we’ve got a Tudor’s biscuit NIL all-you-can-eat.

“So if any of those guys that run really, really fast at Ohio State like Tudor’s biscuits, I promise you, all you can eat, all day if you transfer here. But yeah.”

You can watch the pitch from the Marshall head coach below.

In Huff’s defense, Ohio State has had some exceptionally talented young players enter the ranks in recent years. And being able to peel off a Jeremiah Smith or two would certainly do wonders for the program.

Could Jeremiah Smith be Ohio State’s best yet?

While the Buckeyes have become Wide Receiver U over the last couple of seasons, with players like Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Marvin Harrison Jr. donning the Ohio State uniform, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit recently stated his belief that Smith could elevate above them all, which is some ridiculously high praise for the pass catcher.

“I mean, I don’t want to get — I don’t want to exaggerate here and say, ‘He’s going to be the best ever,’ but he could be the best that they’ve ever had there,” Herbstreit said regarding Smith. “This dude is a grown man, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, and Ryan Day and Chip Kelly said he came in just so polished with his route running, his knowledge of the offense, the way he plays, the way he works, his humility, which is very rare for a high-profile wide receiver.

“But this guy, I think we’ll find out the coming weeks, Oregon, Iowa, that’s when you’re really going to learn how good he is.”

Marshall — and head coach Charles Huff — will get an up-close look at Smith this weekend when the two programs meet at noon on Saturday. Biscuits not included.
