The Miami Hurricanes separated in a big way in the second half from the pesky USF Bulls on Saturday night, flexing their muscles and looking like a team that could truly contend for a spot in the upcoming College Football Playoff. The Hurricanes showcased their elite speed from their offensive playmakers like Samuel Brown and freshman running back Jordan Lyle.

Following the 50-15 win, Cristobal shared his thoughts after the game with Kris Budden on USF’s field. Budden asked him about pitching a shutout in the second half. What did he like from his defense tonight?

“Just pitched a shutout. Then they made up their mind. We’re gonna start playing to the standard of Miami Hurricane football. And that is blocking and tackling. Getting guys on the ground. And getting off the field on third down. The defense was unbelievable. And I thought it was epitomized by an interception after getting that interference call,” Cristobal explained.

Cam Ward was pretty unbelievable tonight. What impresses you the most about him the more you see him out here on gameday, the way that he manages that offense? “He’s just unphased. He’s the ultimate leader. The defense feeds off of him. He feeds off the defense. He just wants to get better. He’s probably gonna be really hard on himself and felt that he missed some throws out there today. You can’t say enough great things about the guy,” Cristobal finished.
