LSU injury updates: Brian Kelly provides latest entering bye week

LSU injury updates: Brian Kelly provides latest entering bye week

LSU enters a bye week following a win against UCLA and one of the first questions head coach Brian Kelly received was about injuries. Specifically, freshman running back Caden Durham, who got rolled up by an offensive linemen. Kelly joked about his status but gave positive news.

“He’s doing great,” Kelly said. “100%, 1,000, a million. He’s doing chin-ups right now.”

Before another name was brought up, Kelly decided to interject and reveal not much information on the injury front would be shared. While the SEC does have mandatory availability reports, LSU will not release one throughout the week since they are not playing.

Kelly did invite reporters to hang out where medical tests are performed to find out information, though.

“You’re not going to get much from me this week on injuries,” Kelly admitted. “This is a bye week. You may not go down that road this week. Unless you guys want to hang out at Our Lady of the Lakes and stand in front of the MRI machine, whatever you guys want to do. You guys can hang out there.”

Even so, a reporter was able to squeeze in another question. Wide receiver CJ Daniels is dealing with a knee problem according to Kelly but a huge sigh of relief came from Baton Rouge after tests. Thankfully, there is nothing wrong with Daniels’ ACL after a previous injury.

“He aggravated a knee, an old knee injury,” Kelly said. “But we got good reports on it. Obviously, we were concerned because he had an ACL. It was not an ACL but those are things, at first, you’re concerned. But it turned out to be the best-case scenario for us.”

LSU has the bye week and then enters a huge game against Ole Miss. Both teams are 4-1 on the season entering the game and need a win next Saturday. Playing at Tiger Stadium is a huge bonus for Kelly’s team with an incredible atmosphere expected.

For now, injuries are not a concern for the game. Kelly expects to have all of his guys available to play against the Rebels.

“Injuries are concerned — that we’ll have our guys for Ole Miss,” Kelly said. “We got two weeks here. So, we’re not going to get into an injury report or say who’s probable or doubtful. We got some guys that are banged up. We expect them to be ready for Ole Miss.”
