The Nittany Lions and Bruins both entered the day with key injury questions. For UCLA, the status of quarterback Ethan Garbers was squarely in the spotlight. Penn State, meanwhile, was unsure about the status of a number of players. Both teams arrived at the stadium around 10 a.m. ET, which is the same time each released their pregame availability report. Garbers is questionable but won’t play. Justyn Martin will start. For Penn State, Nick Singleton is questionable but will play and punt returner Kaden Saunders is out.
The BWI staff will have new updates once team warmups begin around 11 a.m. Then, you’ll find the latest on the Lions-Bruins matchup below.

UCLA at Penn State: Game time and details
Penn State is 2-4 all-time against UCLA. That surprised Franklin and, quite frankly, this reporter as well. All six games were played between 1963 and 1968, a period that included a crossover from Rip Engle to Joe Paterno. The Lions had winning seasons in four of those six years but were also 5-5 twice, partially because of losses to UCLA.
At any rate, here are the details for this year’s matchup:
Time: Noon ET
Date: Saturday, Oct. 5
Location: Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa.
Weather: A beautiful day is on tap. Here’s the latest forecast: “Sunny skies. High 71F. Winds light and variable.”
The line: Penn State is a 27.5-point favorite.
Over/under: 46.5 points
How to watch, stream Lions-Bruins
Penn State will appear on FOX for the first time this season. It was last on the network’s airwaves when it beat West Virginia in Week 1. The network’s live pregame show is also broadcasting from State College this week. It is positioned just outside of the Bryce Jordan Center between it and Beaver Stadium.
As for once the game begins, the top FOX team of Gus Johnson (play-by-play), Joel Klatt (color commentator), and Jenny Taft (sideline reporter) will be on the call.
