LaNorris Sellers injury update: Gamecocks QB status revealed in South Carolina vs. Ole Miss report

Ole Miss will travel to Columbia to face South Carolina this week, and we now know a bit more about what each team could roll out as the initial injury report for the game was revealed on Wednesday.

Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers missed Week 4 to an ankle injury but used the bye week to recover and practiced Wednesday according to coach Shane Beamer. He was also listed as the starting quarterback when the team released its depth chart Monday, so all signs point to him being good to go.

Running back Rocket Sanders received only one carry last week before he suffered an ankle injury and missed the remainder of the 50-7 win against Akron. Beamer also said that he expects him to play on Saturday.

“LaNorris and Rocket were both out there. They both looked good,” the coach said after practice on Wednesday. “Were they 100 percent? I wouldn’t say they were 100 percent but they both told me they felt great. And they look good and they’ll both be able to do even more tomorrow I would think as well.”

The game will mark the return of former South Carolina receiver Juice Wells to Columbia. He spent the previous two seasons with the Gamecocks after beginning his college career at James Madison. Now a Rebel, he has recorded 14 catches for 274 yards and four touchdowns this season.

He is one of many options in the passing attack for Ole Miss, which ranks second in the country with 390.4 yards per game. South Carolina understands the challenge it has ahead on defense with that many weapons the keep track of.

Kickoff for the contest between the Rebels and Gamecocks is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.
