Kyle Busch wrecks from the lead, brings out late caution at Kansas Speedway

Kyle Busch wrecks from the lead, brings out late caution at Kansas Speedway

While leading the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas, Kyle Busch got loose while lapping Chase Briscoe and spun around. Busch was looking to break a 50-race winless streak in the NASCAR Cup Series, but could not get it done today.

With only 32 laps to go, Kyle Busch went for a ride. He was trying to pass Chase Briscoe in a way that would not allow Ross Chastain to come up and make a pass for the lead.

Instead, Rowdy ends up spinning out and his chances of winning go away in the blink of an eye.

What can you say that hasn’t already been said about this season for Kyle Busch? Another major mistake. A moment that was unlike Busch. With a firm hold on the race at the time, Rowdy got nervous with pressure from Chastain and messed up.

As the races tick away this season, Busch has fewer chances. He has won a race every season of his career, going back 19 years now. That is a NASCAR record. But year 20 looks like it may have just slipped away in front of our eyes.

Kyle Busch spins, Ross Chastain takes advantage

Another fantastic race from Ross Chastain as he put on a show fighting off drivers in the second half of the race at Kansas. For the fifth time in his NASCAR Cup Series career, Chastain is a winner!

Ross Chastain has once again found victory lane. He is not in the NASCAR Playoffs this year, but this win means everything to him.

Chastain had to fight for this win today. With 35 laps to go, it was shaping up to be a dogfight between Chastain and Kyle Busch. Inexplicably, Busch got loose behind Chase Briscoe as he lapped the 14-car and spun out.

That mistake and caution opened up the door for Ross Chastain. When the No. 1 team is in the lead, passing goes from difficult to downright impossible. Chastain is the last driver you want to see in front of you. Unless you have a great car, he’s not going to make it easy.

This race ended up being consequential for the NASCAR Playoffs. Drivers who were once favorites are now on the outside looking in going to Talladega.
