Jordan Love injury update: Packers elevate Sean Clifford to active roster vs. Titans
The Green Bay Packers elevated quarterback Sean Clifford ahead of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans amid Jordan Love’s injury, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The former Penn State quarterback going on the active roster could be an indication Love won’t play Sunday. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler previously reported the QB had an outside shot of playing against the Titans.
Malik Willis is line to start for Green Bay if Love cannot go. Clifford will back him up in that event.
Clifford played five seasons at Penn State from 2018-22. He finished his college career with 10,661 yards, 86 touchdowns, 31 interceptions and a 61.4% completion percentage.
After he practiced in pads in a limited capacity this week, and his turn to being questionable for Sunday’s game, there’s plenty of optimism that Love will be back on the very front of his recovery timeline.
The Packers moved to 1-1 with a win in Week 2 as Willis led the offense to a win over the Colts. Willis is in line to get the start against his former team if Love cannot play.
Other than Love, only two other Packers enter the weekend with injury designations. Rookie offensive tackle Jordan Morgan is out after not practicing all week with a shoulder injury. And defensive back Carrington Valentine is doubtful with an ankle injury after he also didn’t practice this week.
Love was the only Packer limited on Friday who takes a designation into the weekend.
Along with Love, the other limited participants were: Kenny Clark (toe), Josh Jacobs (back), Elgton Jenkins (illness/glute), Tucker Kraft (shoulder), Josh Myers (ankle), Jayden Reed (calf), Zach Tom (quad) and Rasheed Walker (shoulder).
