Jordan Love injury update: Green Bay Packers QB addresses status for Week 3 vs. Titans

Jordan Love injury update: Green Bay Packers QB addresses status for Week 3 vs. Titans

Packers’ fans got some great news on Wednesday. Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love is “hopeful” that he’ll be able to play in Week 3 at Tennessee, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. He returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering an MCL sprain in the 34-29 Week 1 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1).

He took part in all of the early drills wearing a sleeve on his left leg, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Love, 25, did not play in this past Sunday’s 16-10 Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts (0-2). Malik Willis got the start and led Green Bay to victory. Willis completed 12-of-14 passes for 122 yards and one touchdown. He added 41 yards on six carries. The Packers were able to lean on their ground game, with offseason addition Josh Jacobs rushing for 151 yards on 32 carries. Green Bay ran for 261 yards as a team.

Many fans and analysts across the country had Love penciled in for a big season this year, after his breakout campaign in 2023-2024. In 17 games last year, he finished with 4,159 yards, while tossing in 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, establishing himself as one of the league’s best at the position.

He showed impressive chemistry with his young, but talented receiving corps, guiding the Packers to a blowout victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card matchup of the 2024 NFL Playoffs. He threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in that one, putting on a masterful performance.

This offseason, Love signed a four-year, $220 million extension that will keep him under contract for the Packers through until 2028. It also put him at the top of the quarterback market, earning $55 million a year.

The Packers go on the road to play the Tennessee Titans (0-2) in Week 3 this Sunday. If Love can’t go, it’ll be a revenge game for Willis, whom the Titans traded to the Packers ahead of the season opener.
