Joel Klatt calls Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi a ‘clown’ amid Shedeur Sanders controversy

Joel Klatt calls Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi a ‘clown’ amid Shedeur Sanders controversy

A bit of controversy popped up at the end of the Colorado Buffaloes‘ win over the Colorado State Rams when quarterback Shedeur Sanders refused to shake the hand of Rams quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. That came after Fowler-Nicolosi had trash-talked in the lead-up to the game.

While making an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, college football analyst Joel Klatt shared his thoughts on the controversy, calling Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi a clown.

“A lot of the noise comes from outside,” Klatt said.

Colin Cowherd responded to that, saying, “Why don’t you shake hands with the team you just beat?” The implication being that there wouldn’t be so much noise if Colorado’s players, and in this case Shedeur Sanders, carried themselves differently.

“Hey, how about if you’re the opposing quarterback you don’t run your mouth to the extent that Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi ran his mouth and then couldn’t back it up on the field,” Klatt countered. “By the way, if you just run the video a little bit, you’re gonna see Shedeur Sanders shake everybody else’s hands. He daps up everybody from CSU except for this clown that ran his mouth about how good he was.”

Amid all of that controversy, Joel Klatt, who played at Colorado during his playing days, also emphasized that he feels the win was a step in the right direction for Colorado.

“This team does show a little bit more than they did last year…I was very critical of Colorado early in the season because I thought nothing has changed…So, they have these elite players but I thought they haven’t shown anything else, though,” Klatt said. “The defense is still suspect and so on and so forth. Yet, you’re starting to see a little bit of growth in areas outside of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.”

Shedeur Sanders calls Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi a hater

Following the game, Shedeur Sanders also called out Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi as being a hater and explained what happened after the game from his perspective.

“After the game, I said something to the Colorado State quarterback. Because he was talking crazy on social media and he was really doing it for the clicks… I said what I had to say to him because he wasn’t telling the truth in anything he was saying. It felt like a lot of hate, to me, personally. In life, if you’re a hater, you’ll never be able to succeed. Those who hate on people, I don’t feel like God bless those kind of people because it’s bad,” Sanders said.

“Everybody’s path is different. Everybody has a different route. Jealousy and envy is the root of all evil. So, I’m not ever going to be a hater towards anybody. And then he just went online, talking crazy. I never understood that.”

Now, Colorado will look to put the Colorado State game behind them and focus on Big 12 play. That starts this week with a game against the Baylor Bears.
