Isiah Pacheco injury update: Latest news on Kansas City Chiefs RB

Isiah Pacheco fractured his fibula in the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

He’ll likely be placed on injured reserve. Despite the injury, Kansas City escaped with a win over Cincinnati but it remains to be seen how long Pacheco will be out.

Rapoport gave the lastest on Monday’s Good Morning Football.

“Isiah Pacheco, sources say, fractured his fibula in yesterday’s Chiefs win over the Cincinnati Bengals,” Rapoport said. “This was kind of the fear leaving the stadium. He was in a walking boot. He was in crutches. Anytime they’re going to take a look at the bone, usually, that’s not good. This is why initial test showed a fractured fibula. Now my understanding is he’s going to have more tests today to determine if there is associated damage. In other words, if there is damage to the ligaments, (they’ll have to figure out) what needs to happen next and how long he is going to be out, but it is a fracture.

“Generally, those are for six weeks, maybe eight weeks. Don’t be surprised if Isiah Pacheco is placed on injure reserve. And for the Kansas City Chiefs, they do have some options at running back.”

In the 26-25 win, getting the Chiefs to 2-0, Pacheco ran 19 times for 90 yards and reeled in five catches for 21 yards. In two games this year, he had 135 rushing yards and one score.

Pacheco’s been a revelation for the Chiefs since they drafted him in the 7th round out of Rutgers in 2022. Over the course of his career, he has 1,900 yards, 13 touchdowns, 4.6 yards per carry, 64 catches, 428 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.

Pacheco played four years at Rutgers (2018-21) and finished his career with 563 carries for 2,442 yards, 18 touchdowns, 4.3 yards per carry, 47 catches, 249 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.

As a member of the Class of 2018, Pacheco was a three-star recruit out of Vineland (N.J.) South, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 20 overall prospect in the state, the No. 55 running back in the class and the No. 705 overall prospect in the class.
