Injury Report: Who’s in, who’s out for No. 7 Tennessee vs Kent State

Injury Report: Who’s in, who’s out for No. 7 Tennessee vs Kent State

Tennessee will not be at full strength tonight with one starter expected to sit out this game more as a precaution to be ready for next week. The Vols still come into the contest rather healthy through two games, and Volquest looks at the injury report for Tennessee.

OT Lance Heard (Game-Time Decision)

Tennessee will likely be without a key starter for the game with Kent State on Saturday night. Sophomore offensive tackle Lance Heard will likely go through warmups Saturday night but isn’t expected to play (ankle) sources tell Volquest. Additionally, sources tell Volquest that Heard would be good to go if this was a week from now, but out of precaution Heard will rest up for next week. Tennessee is expected to start Dayne Davis and John Campbell at tackle against the Golden Flash.

Mike Matthews, Braylon Staley (IN)

Matthews and Staley have both nursed a hamstring injury for Tennessee and have suited up but not played yet for the Vols. That changes tonight as the two young standout wide receivers are expected to get plenty of run.

EDGE Jordan Ross (Questionable)

Ross is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and it is still up in the air if the true freshman pass-rusher will see any time for Tennessee tonight.

RB Cameron Seldon (IN)

Seldon missed last week’s game with a concussion, but he is back and expected to get some carries for Tennessee tonight against Kent State.

DB Jakobe Thomas (IN)

Thomas suffered a shoulder injury in the second half of the N.C. State game, but it was nothing that lingered. He is expected back in the Tennessee secondary on Saturday night.

LB Kalib Perry (IN)

Perry was under the weather last week and not available for the Vols, but he is back in the rotation at linebacker this week.

LB Edwin Spillman (IN)

Spillman has dealt with a quad issue that has kept him sidelined. Tennessee has ramped things up with him this week, and he should get his first action as a Vol tonight.

Tennessee DB Jourdan Thomas (OUT)

Thomas suffered a season-ending knee injury during camp which Josh Heupel confirmed after Tennessee’s first scrimmage of the fall.

“He’s handled it with a ton of maturity,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said after the first scrimmage of fall camp. “Just being in the building, being around, being out here tonight with the guys. It matters to him. The guys care about him in a great way, too.”

DE Emmanuel Okoye (OUT)

Okoye suffered a season-ending knee injury ahead of UTC and will miss the remainder of the season.
