Heisman Trophy Odds: Betting favorites shaken up after Week 8 of college football
The latest Heisman Trophy odds are in following Week 8 of college football and the betting favorites were shook up.
The odds are courtesy of FanDuel and it’s an intriguing list going into Week 9. In fact, we have a tie for the Heisman favorite as we get deeper into the second half of the season.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the most recent Heisman odds.
Cam Ward – Miami (+200)
Ward is at the top of the Heisman odds this week following another win for Miami over Louisville. There’s no question the ‘Canes QB is putting up massive numbers.
So far this season, he’s on pace to shatter his career best numbers. Ward has 2,538 yards, 24 touchdowns, five interceptions, a 68.7% completion percentage, 190 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Ashton Jeanty – Boise State (+200)
If you want to talk about absurd numbers, Jeanty has them. He’s tied with Ward for the shortest Heisman odds to this point of the season.
Through six games, Jeanty has 1,248 rushing yards, 17 touchdowns, 9.9 yards per carry, nine catches, 39 receiving yards and one touchdown reception. Yes, he still has half of a season to go!
Dillon Gabriel – Oregon (+350)
Oregon has started to pick it up, beat Ohio State and is now the No. 1 team in the country. That’s good news for Gabriel’s Heisman chances.
He’s No. 3 on this list and he’s putting up solid numbers, including a career high in completion percentage. This year, he has 2,080 yards, 15 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 77% completion percentage.
Travis Hunter – Colorado (+1500)
Hunter was the early leader in the clubhouse this season, but the Heisman Trophy could be harder to get in the second half of the season. Still, he plays both ways and has a legit shot, but you can see the difference in odds from the top three to here.
As a receiver, Hunter should pass his career best numbers and has 51 catches, 604 yards, six touchdowns and 11.8 yards per catch. On defense, he has 19 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, three pass deflections and one forced fumble.
Cade Klubnik – Clemson (+2000)
The resurgence of Klubnik and Clemson this season is a sight to behold. And the Tigers’ QB has poured it on in recent weeks to give him an outside shot at the Heisman.
This year, he has 1,836 yards, 20 touchdowns (a career high) and three interceptions. His completion percentage has increased to 66.7%.
Carson Beck – Georgia (+2500)
Beck was a popular preseason pick for the Heisman Trophy but he’s fallen behind the pack a little bit. It didn’t help that he threw three interceptions in a win over Texas Saturday night.
Because of that, he has a new career high in picks. Overall, Beck has 1,993 yards, 15 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 66% completion percentage.
Garrett Nussmeier – LSU (+3000)
Nussmeier piloted the Tigers to six straight wins and LSU is suddenly in the SEC and College Football Playoff picture. Is it enough for a Heisman worthy season for Nuss?
So far this season, he has 2,222 yards, 18 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 64.7% completion percentage. Good numbers, but he needs a huge second half to climb the odds list.
Drew Allar – Penn State (+3000)
Allar is in the same boat as Nussmeier, but his numbers don’t measure up to the LSU QB. Penn State is undefeated, so it’ll give Allar a chance to move up the Heisman list.
But the numbers don’t wow you, even if they’re solid. Allar has 1,492 yards, 11 touchdowns, four interceptions and a career high 70.5% completion percentage.
Jalen Milroe – Alabama (+4000)
Milroe, like Beck, was a popular pick in the preseason for the Heisman. Now while he’s not totally out of it, the numbers didn’t explode to this point of the season like some expected.
So far this year, Milroe has 1,722 yards, 13 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 68.4% completion percentage. On the ground, Milroe has 330 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss (+5000)
Dart was on an absolute tear to begin non-conference play this season. It was easy to pick him lifting the Heisman Trophy at the end of the year.
Yes, his numbers are good, but he’s slowed down and the Rebels have lost two games. Dart has 2,384 yards, 14 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 70.2% completion percentage.
Heisman Trophy odds updated through Week 8
Quinn Ewers – Texas (+6000)
Shedeur Sanders – Colorado (+6000)
Kurtis Rourke – Indiana (+8000)
Jeremiah Smith – Ohio State (+8000)

Dylan Sampson – Tennessee (+8000)
Will Howard – Ohio State (+10,000)
Avery Johnson – Kansas State (+10,000)
Riley Leonard – Notre Dame (+10,000)
Rocco Becht – Iowa State (+12,000)
Nico Iamaleava – Tennessee (+15,000)

Diego Pavia – Vanderbilt (+15,000)
Blake Horvath – Navy (+15,000)
Miller Moss – USC (+20,000)
Tre Harris – Ole Miss (+20,000)
Any longshots for the Heisman tickle your fancy? It’ll take a Herculean effort to climb up the list, especially to catch guys like Ward and Jeanty.
