Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle alerts family of Hurricane Helene victims after helicopter mission

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle alerts family of Hurricane Helene victims after helicopter mission

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle sent a message to a family of Hurricane Helene victims after dropping supplies off on a helicopter mission. On X, Biffle showed a pin where he helped the family and sent supplies.

“If your family is near this pin, they got my attention with a mirror flashing against the sun they are okay and we’ve dropped off supplies,” Biffle wrote in the post.

Biffle is using his personal helicopter to get supplies to people in western North Carolina. Additionally, his Venmo account is accepting donations to pay for the fuel and supplies that are being delivered.

“I’ve seen some really tough stuff,” Biffle told NewsNation. “Roads and bridges — gone and washed out. Not just one road or one area. I mean, it’s hundreds of miles.”

Edwards is one of the many NASCAR personalities who have aided in Hurricane Helene relief. Last week, Michael Jordan and 23XI Racing announced they will donate $1 million to the relief efforts in North Carolina.

“Our hearts go out to everyone suffering from Hurricane Helene’s devastation,” Jordan said in a statement. “23XI Racing and I are honored to support the NC Disaster Relief Fund and Second Harvest of Metrolina as they help rebuild lives, restore hope and ensure that those affected receive the assistance they need.

More on Greg Biffle and his career

“While the process of recovery will take a long time, as a proud North Carolinian, I know firsthand the strength and resilience of the people in this state we call home… We will get through this together.”

Biffle, 54, competed in the NASCAR Cup Series full-time from 2003 to 2016. In his Cup Series career, Biffle won 19 races and finished in the top 10 175 times. Biffle won the NASCAR Truck Series championship in 2000 and the Xfinity Series (then-called Busch Series) in 2022. In August, Biffle competed in an ARCA West race at Tri-City Raceway in East Richland, Washington and earned a P9 finish.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the track in an ARCA West car almost 30 years after I won the track championship,” Biffle said ahead of the race, per Motorsport.com. “It’s an honor to drive for one of the teams well-known in the sport, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to return to racing at this historic Northwest race track.”
