This field is fuller than the debut one from last season with both conference adding teams in realignment. The SEC will have Texas and Oklahoma competing on each side. The ACC will then have Cal competing in each while Stanford and SMU will only be taking part in the women’s games.

The Cardinal and Mustangs are the only programs missing from the event on the men’s side with Notre Dame taking one of those places. Pittsburgh and Wake Forest then won’t play a game as part of the games on the women’s side.

For men’s basketball, Tuesday has some interesting games like a rematch between John Calipari, except now at Arkansas, and Jim Larrañaga with the Razorbacks going to Miami along with Kentucky going to Clemson after the Tigers’ run to the Elite Eight. However, Wednesday has the two primetime events with Alabama going to Chapel Hill to play North Carolina in a rematch from the Sweet 16 along with Auburn going to Durham to meet Duke.

For women’s basketball, the second night is also the more packed schedule. Kentucky will go to North Carolina, Texas will travel to Notre Dame, and Ole Miss will head to NC State before South Carolina, the defending national champions, host Duke and LSU, the national title winners from the year prior, will host Stanford. That’s several highly-rated teams who were high seeds that deep into the previous tournament meeting across That thursday.

In 2023, the SEC-ACC Challenge tied at 7-7 for both the men and the women for the inaugural year.
