Devin Singletary injury report: New info emerges on the New York Giants RB
New York Giants (1-3) running back Devin Singletary (groin) is doubtful for Sunday’s Week 5 road tilt against the Seattle Seahawks (3-1), the team announced Friday.
Singletary, 27, suffered the groin injury in last Thursday’s 20-15 Week 4 home defeat to the Dallas Cowboys (2-2). He did not practice this week until Friday when he participated in a limited capacity. Before the Giants listed him as doubtful for Sunday’s game, Singletary said Friday he “feels better” and liked his chances to suit up versus Seattle.
Singletary is in his first season with the Giants after signing a three-year, $16.5 million deal in March. He’s been the bell cow in New York’s ground game, rushing for 221 yards on 56 carries and two touchdowns. Singletary has added 10 receptions for 72 yards.
With Singletary sidelined, Tyrone Tracy is likely to see the lion share of the carries. The rookie tailback out of Purdue has seldomly been used in the offense to date, taking just 12 carries for 29 yards and four receptions for 41 yards.
Giants in danger of being without Devin Singletary, Malik Nabers vs. Seahawks
While New York has not yet ruled Singletary out, the Giants will be without leading receiver and 2024 first round pick Malik Nabers. He suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter against Dallas and has yet to clear the protocol. Nabers has been arguably the most exciting newcomer in the NFL through four weeks. He currently paces the league with 35 receptions to go along with 386 yards and three touchdowns.
Singletary and Nabers have accounted for 83% of the Giants’ production on offense and 83% of their touchdowns. Replacing that production will be a tall task for an offense which is averaging only 15.0 points per game this season.
