Delta is reminding prospective flight attendants that they must wear ‘proper’ underwear to their interviews
“In the interest of transparency and clarity for all perspective candidates we are encouraging people to ‘dress for success,'” Delta said.

  • Delta Air Lines is reminding prospective employees what is appropriate to wear for its interviews.
  • This included wearing “proper” underwear that is not visible.
  • The airline told BI it is encouraging applicants to “dress for success.”

Delta Air Lines has told prospective flight attendants participating in the company’s latest interview rounds that they must wear “proper” underwear.

A leaked document detailing the airline’s “appearance requirements” for applicants interviewing to work at the airline was viewed by travel news site Paddle Your Own Kanoo. The document reminded candidates to wear undergarments that are not visible when attending in-person assessments.

“In the interest of transparency and clarity for all perspective candidates we are encouraging people to ‘dress for success’ and give a great first impression as they aspire to join the flight attendant ranks,” a spokesperson for Delta told Business Insider, commenting on the leaked memo.

Delta reopened applications for flight attendants at the beginning of September for the first time in over a year.

An airline spokesperson previously told BI that extremely high demand led to some applicants reporting difficulty accessing the application page —- which has since been fixed.

According to Paddle Your Own Kanoo, the airline also reminded interviewees in that document that profanities should not be used during the interviews, that chewing gum is not permitted, and that flight attendant hopefuls must maintain their personal hygiene.

Delta representatives have been holding information sessions for aspiring flight attendants in Connecticut, Florida, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Washington state through September, BI previously reported.

The airline’s interview process involves five stages. After submitting an application, there’s a virtual job tryout, a video interview, and an in-person event day that includes another interview. Successful applicants then receive a conditional job offer and undergo seven weeks of training.
