Deion Sanders praises ‘humble’ Colorado players: ‘It’s not like we come out talking that talk’

Deion Sanders praises ‘humble’ Colorado players: ‘It’s not like we come out talking that talk’

Deion Sanders believes that there is a perception out there that the Colorado football program is braggadocious and outspoken. However, he insists that’s not the case.

Sanders spoke following Colorado’s win over UCF last weekend about how he’s proud of his players for being humble as others root for the Buffaloes to fail.

“Ain’t nobody wanna see us win, you know that, except for our fanbase,” Deion Sanders said. “Ain’t nobody nationally wanna see us get down. That’s just the nature of the game. We’re not mad about it. We’re not upset about it. We know who we are. We know how we get down.”

Colorado is off to a surprising 4-1 start after beating the Knights 48-21 in Orlando last weekend. It was the first loss of the season for UCF and moved Colorado to 2-0 in the Big 12.

Deion Sanders said that he doesn’t understand why some root for his team to lose because his players go about things the right way.

“It’s not like we come out talking that talk, because we don’t really do that,” Sanders said. “You say we do that but we really don’t do that. Our kids are very humble.”

Deion Sanders added that in addition to his players being humble, he is also humble and a gracious winner.

“I don’t say what’s going to happen. Never. I say what I would like to happen, but not what’s gonna definitively happen, you know,” Sanders said. “But I’m so darn proud of where we are. We could be in a whole different place right now.

Colorado has a bye week this week in, before a huge game against Kansas State on Oct. 12. The Buffaloes will have another opportunity to prove that they’re for real against what will likely be a ranked opponent.

“We’re going into the break 4-1. We’re 4-1 right now going into the break and I’m so excited, you have no idea,” Sanders said.

Deion Sanders is in his second season as the Colorado head coach after spending three years as the head coach at Jackson State.

The Pro Football and College Football Hall of Famer has received plenty of criticism since taking over the Buffaloes program. However, it’s hard to argue with the results this year. Colorado is hoping to continue to find a way to win games in 2024, and perhaps the Buffaloes can be in contention for the Big 12 title down the stretch.
